Happy Disability Pride Month!
Hi, everyone!
July is disability pride month. The ADA is 36 years old and all month long, my feed has been full of book recommendations featuring disabled characters. It rules. My Instagram feed is full of reels by disabled comedians, like Erin Tatum, who is funny as hell. I hope she gets to walk Jacob Elordi on a leash someday. Both Hal and Han have suggested that we are each other’s Warios and I’m honored.
At day job, it’s Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp Szn, which rules. Mary Free Bed has one of the largest adaptive sports programs in the country. Sports camp itself is older than the ADA. It’s completely free for participants.
The Rapidian also covered the Hartford Nationals, an adaptive sports tournament hosted by Mary Free Bed. It’s like my jobs are friends! Speaking of day job, I also spent the better part of a month preparing a welcome party for a therapy dog. I’ve worked at Mary Free Bed for a whole calendar year! Remember when I worked at a content gulag?
It’s wild how much things can change in a year. As the Buck Moon nears, I’m thinking of what it means to grow.
Below, you’ll find prompts for the upcoming full Moon on Wednesday.
